Vorkriegszeit

Vorkriegszeit is a photobook dummy from February 2026, a preliminary study for the larger work Zwischenkriegszeit. The pictures are of Berlin now, in the knowledge of earlier wars and of a present that has grown brittle.

I photograph in the city and with people who live in it, in the tradition of subjective documentary work: not illustrating a thesis, but staying with places where memory and everyday life overlap.

The book asks what a pre-war looks like while it is still called peace — without answering that question for the viewer.
