(Un)Vollkommen

(Un)Vollkommen was made in 2021 as a group of portraits of people whose presence does not fit a smooth type. The work was shown as an exhibition of portraits and personalities.

I photographed in rooms that belong to the sitters, with time for a conversation to settle. The pictures are close, but they leave space around a face.

I am drawn to what remains unfinished in a person — not as a deficit, but as the part that keeps a portrait from closing.
