Stadtwandel. Alles Anders?

“StadtWandel – Alles anders?” shows pictures of the Corona year 2020. Photographers approach the radically changed everyday life in very different ways and work through their own experience in photographic reportages.

The pandemic and the lockdown in spring 2020 froze life in cities worldwide. Berlin, otherwise filled with people at every hour, offered a terrible-beautiful spectacle of emptiness. The city looked like a set without actors, a museum without visitors.

The original working title “City in transition” was about rents, displacement and housing shortage. Covid-19 made that title programmatic overnight. Planned reportages accompanying people in their personal spaces could not be continued; what surrounded everyone was documented instead: the pandemic and its effects on private, public and working life.
